Fluorescence Surgery Projection System

Technology Overview

Left: ICG fluorescence flow projected onto an arm phantom. Right: ICG fluorescence highlights projected directly onto a patient.

This is a surgical assistance system that can track changes in the shape and position of organs in real-time and directly project relevant information onto the patient's body. Using near-infrared light, the system activates a fluorescent response from the ICG contrast agent injected into blood vessels and lymphatic vessels. During surgery, the fluorescence is displayed in real-time on the screen and combined with in-situ projection technology to accurately map lymphatic flow and blood circulation directly onto the affected area.

This alignment of the surgical view with the target area allows surgeons to focus on the patient without needing to look at a separate monitor. By overcoming the limitations of traditional fluorescence imaging, this method enables real-time fluorescent markers to appear directly on the patient's body, helping surgeons follow the projection lines with precision. The result is improved surgical accuracy, reduced bleeding, and shorter recovery times for patients.
