Innovation Grows New Business, New Business Energizes Industry

For innovations to really grow into new businesses, services that can effectively foster growth must be available. The key is to help transform the raw results from research and development efforts into real commercial products. ITRI provides expertise to assist with the integration of all available resources to launch new businesses or create new products. Among all the necessary factors needed to ensure true commercialization, intellectual property is among the most important.

Intensification of Industrial Cooperation

To enhance multi-industrial interactions, ITRI cooperated with its strategic industrial partners to facilitate the application of scientific and technological innovations to achieve tangible outcomes. These were achieved through the integration of interdisciplinary technologies and value-added services to intellectual property. The outcomes in 2013 are as follows:

  • Provided assistance to the leading manufacturer in office solutions, enabling its product capabilities to upgrade from 2D to 3D printers. ITRI further cooperated with the manufacturer to develop a cloud-based office system.
  • Participated in the Taiwan Intelligent Aerotropolis Association (TIAA) and brought together leading manufacturers of various industries to jointly develop intelligent applications for consumption, passenger services, and logistics. In the future, this cooperation aims to expand its expertise and experience to mainland China and other overseas markets.
  • Infused ITRI’s energies of nurturing start-ups into the establishment of incubation mechanism for Taiwan’s Cloud Valley. Together with the Group Enterprise strategic partners, guidance was provided to encourage the growth of small and medium enterprises (SME) in the cloud computing industry. Strategic partners would also benefit from the innovative energies of the SMEs.
