Technology Overview

Dry eye syndrome is one of the most prevalent type of ocular surface diseases, which shows profound effects on work, learning and daily life for approximately 10-15 percent of the adult population. An increasing number of epidemiological studies have indicated that air pollution can cause eye discomfort and the air particulate matter (PM) can lead to dry eye syndrome. There are still no effective drugs for treatment of dry eye with complicated and unclarified pathogenic mechanisms. Here we developed a healthcare product (ANDE1) by combination of medicinal Dendrobium species and natural materials, and showed significant efficacy through Schirmer test and tear breakup time (t-BUT) in a mouse dry eye model.
