As an aging society drives the demand for rehabilitation, traditional upper limb therapies face limitations in training variety, patient engagement, and quantifiable outcomes. To tackle these challenges, ITRI partnered with rehabilitation equipment manufacturer Rehabotics to develop and deploy this system in medical and long-term care facilities, where it integrates image recognition, upper limb motion tracking, and audio feedback technologies.

The system’s gamified design delivers diverse rehabilitation training content that increases patient engagement and adherence. Moreover, its automatic digital recording feature gives medical teams real-time access to rehabilitation data, allowing them to create personalized therapy programs. Clinical trials indicate an average improvement rate of 49% in participants during the Box and Block Test (BBT), and a 33% average increase in the Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) scores, demonstrating clear advantages over traditional rehabilitation methods.
