Technology Overview
AM as a Service.
This AM as a Service platform integrates a 3D scanning system, 3D solid modeling, structural analysis and process simulation, as well as both self-developed and commercial printing machines together. It employs both the software and hardware from ITRI to provide a comprehensive cloud service platform for the design and manufacturing of 3D-printed healthcare devices, which can be effectively completed in a timely manner for patients in hospitals.
Applications & Benefits
ITRI has collaborated with Hsinchu Mackay Memorial Hospital and Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital to develop assistive devices for patients with de Quervain’s and carpal tunnel syndromes, as well as those who need ankle-foot orthoses, leg prostheses and functional knee braces. Multiple patents have been filed, and clinical trials are in progress. AM as a Service thus provides both physicians and patients with better and more personalized medical assistive device solutions. In the future, customized 3D-printed assistive devices will be produced close to where they are needed, which will significantly expedite patient recovery and improve patient comfort and satisfaction.
