ITRI’s high performance trochoidal machining control technology uses trochoidal milling which combines both the circular and linear motions of cutting tools. It generates a spiral tool path to reduce cutting force and add cutting depth, which can increase machining efficiency and minimize tool wear.

Applications & Benefits

The technology has been built into the high-end five-axis controller, and the trochoidal machining function can be turned on with a single command instead of the complex machining path generated by CAM software. ITRI has assisted end-users at five-axis machining centers to use this technology to improve cutting efficiency for aerospace parts by 20%.
