Technology Overview

Building Energy Simulation Technology with Artificial Intelligence (BESTAI).

Taiwan possesses the highest density of convenience stores and banks in the world. These consume approximately 4.8 billion kWh of electricity every year, accounting for 10% of electricity consumption in commercial buildings. As it takes years to obtain a return on equipment investment, and it is difficult to make an energy efficiency diagnosis, enterprises are rather unwilling to invest in an improvement plan.

Applications & Benefits

BESTAI can quickly perform an analysis via standard building models developed with diverse building types. It also has a complete database of construction materials and equipment, in which reliable internet resources and data can be searched on a regular basis using web crawler technology with artificial intelligence. As a result, the accuracy of an analysis can be improved.

Moreover, intelligent screening and sequencing technologies for equipment are used to provide a list of optimal equipment, as well as an assessment and recommendations on energy conservation and economic benefits, in order to both diagnose the energy consumption problems within current buildings and propose solutions.

BESTAI integrates ESCO, BEMS, and the construction materials and equipment industry to provide customized recommendations for different conditions and applications through functional modules. Currently, it has been introduced to more than 150 banks and convenience stores in Taiwan, saving 5–20% of energy on average. It received a 2017 R&D 100 Award.
