Technology Overview
Laser-Assisted Silver-Coated Copper Electrode Tech
As the solar photovoltaic industry faces challenges such as raw material shortages, high costs, and significant carbon emissions, ITRI has developed Laser-Assisted Silver-Coated Copper Electrode Technology, which replaces silver with silvercoated copper as the electrode material. This technology reduces silver consumption by nearly 50% and alleviates the supply and cost pressures of silver pastes. By incorporating a new glass frit into the silver-coated copper paste, integrating laser opening, and laser-enhanced contact optimization, the innovation enhances conductivity and stability while reducing contact resistance. Meanwhile, the firing temperature is reduced from 800 °C to 400 °C, resulting in significant energy savings. When applied to TOPCon solar cells, the technology boosts the photoelectric conversion efficiency to 24.80%—a 0.51% increase—and reduces cell production costs by 8%.
