Technology Overview
To ensure the performance and safety of hydrogen refueling facilities, Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) is mandatory before commercial operation. ITRI partnered with TÜV SÜD to develop a hydrogen station testing apparatus (HSTA) compliant with ISO 19880-1, establishing Taiwan’s high-pressure (>20 MPa) hydrogen testing capability. Unlike conventional international equipment that typically adopts a single-pressure design, this apparatus is compatible with both 35 MPa and 70 MPa communication protocols and refueling tests for light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles. It meets IECEx Zone 2 (or higher) explosion-proof standards, ensuring safe and versatile operation.
Applications & Benefits
As the only third-party laboratory in Taiwan equipped for hydrogen station testing, ITRI has successfully completed pre-commercial testing for the CPC Kaohsiung Station and Linde LienHwa Tainan Station, both opening at the end of 2025. By standardizing hydrogen station testing, ITRI supports national hydrogen policy, accelerates infrastructure deployment in public and private sectors, and strengthens the hydrogen industry supply chain.
