Auxiliary Online Market Surveillance System for Energy Labeling.
ITRI has developed a smart surveillance system for inspecting the energy-saving claims of online merchandise to protect consumers. Web scraping information collection and AI matching techniques are employed to determine whether the energysaving labels of home appliances sold online are truthful. The system captures and classifies relevant product information on e-commerce platforms, using AI to recognize text/images and make comparisons with those in the government's databases to identify energy-saving labels and pick out fake ones.
Applications & Benefits
While traditional manual comparison methods can check at most 40,000 home appliances per year, ITRI's system can verify more than 1.21 million pieces in a year, and with much lower error rates. This technology received the national Energy Globe Award in Taiwan in 2021.
