The plumbing fixture industry in Taiwan is facing a labor shortage and unstable quality in grinding processes. To solve these issues, ITRI provides the software EzSim, developed from the “CPS grinding and polishing key technology project”, to automatically generate the grinding and polishing path for curved surfaces and ridges of faucets. Performance is superior to existing solutions in robot programming and optimization of motion control. EzSim can shorten teaching time by 90% and improve grinding efficiency by 25%. Currently, ITRI has implemented this solution within a well-known sanitary ware company, and established a smart machinery system demonstration production line: a successful value–added case based on cross–industry alliance.
Applications & Benefits
The technology can also be applied to the to the 3D––Dirty, Dangerous, and Difficult––manufacturing process for hand tools, vehicle components, and golf equipment. ITRI is planning to cooperate with plumbing fixture companies in central Taiwan to build a smart machinery CPS robot verification and demonstration system.
