To reduce reliance on foreign suppliers and lower procurement costs, ITRI has incorporated Taiwan's smart machinery manufacturing capabilities to develop equipment and components for railway maintenance and testing. The goal is to establish a comprehensive supply chain, enhancing Taiwan’s manufacturing independence and infrastructure resilience.
Applications & Benefits
Currently, various Taiwan-made maintenance and testing equipment and electric multiple unit (EMU) door controllers have been completed and made fully operational for Taiwan High Speed Rail, Taiwan Railways, and several Metro systems around Taiwan. This high-performance equipment is tailored to meet local needs, driving industry integration and technological innovation.
