Electric Vehicle for Rail Profile Measurement and Defect Inspection.
Reliable rail systems are the foundation of train operation safety. ITRI developed a two-seat electric vehicle for the 1,067 mm rail gauge to perform track measurement and inspection, allowing agile movement and large-area operation. The vehicle can be equipped with various modules for rail defect detection, rail head wear measurement, rail profiling, and ultrasonic inspection. This enhances the efficiency and accuracy of rail inspection, thereby improving measurement validity.

Furthermore, the continuous collection of rail track health data can be combined with AI analysis modules to develop a preventive maintenance system. These endeavors will advance smart rail management to strengthen the resilience of rail transportation.
