Drone Swarm Communication and 3DGS Scene Generation

Technology Overview

Drone Swarm Communication and 3DGS Scene Generation supports optimal rescue planning.
Drone Swarm Communication and 3DGS Scene Generation supports optimal rescue planning.

Current disaster relief operations are primarily conducted with individual drones, which lack autonomous collaboration and real-time dispatching. As a result, assessing disaster impact across large areas is challenging, undermining command decisions and rescue efficiency. The Drone Swarm Communication and 3DGS Scene Generation technology adopts multi-drone relaying to overcome terrain obstructions and extend communication range. It quickly generates 3D models of disaster zones from aerial imagery, integrating imagery and positioning data to support optimal rescue planning.

Applications & Benefits

Compared to single-drone operations, this technology enables information sharing among multiple drones and generates enhanced 3DGS scenes for real-time planning, supporting relay transmission over distances of up to 9 kilometers. The multi-drone system has been validated at the Zengwen River in Tainan and received positive feedback from the Highway Bureau and Taiwan High Speed Rail. Field tests with Liming Engineering Consultants and Delta Electronics demonstrated improvements in real-time monitoring and decisionmaking at emergency operation centers.
