Traditional welding methods are time-consuming and energy-intensive, leading to a production shortfall of 50% for the steel structure industry. ITRI’s highly carbon-reduction one-pass laser welding technology integrates a 30 kW two-sided laser system, with weld-path tracking algorithms, ambience control design, and a laser head module. The solution achieves full penetration welding of H-beam with a one-side weld depth up to 20 mm and is applicable to steel plates with a total thickness up to 35 mm.

Applications & Benefits

This technology has enabled Taiwan Mask Corporation to commission the world’s first automated H-beam laser welding pilot production line. The products from the pilot line have passed ISO strength tests and fatigue tests conducted by the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering. Compared to traditional production methods, this technology reduces energy consumption by 88% and increases production speed by 88% and achieves a production capacity of 5,000 tons per month per line.
