Open Lab Introduction

Open Lab

Industrial Technology Research Institute’s current R&D focuses on 6 key technologies including Information & Communications, Electronic & Optoelectronic System, Material & Chemical, Mechanical & Mechatronics System, Biomedical Technology & Device, and Green Energy & Environment. The goal of the Open Lab is to gather experts in each field both internally from within ITRI and externally to plan long-term technology development strategies as well as promote integration of multidisciplinary technology. Looking forward to the future, ITRI Open Lab aims to expand and transform our operations into a research park to continually elevate ITRI’s superior service to Taiwan industries.

Applicant Qualifications:

Start-up Category

  1. A company established and registered under the laws of our country, and the company has been established for less than 60 months or the company is in the preparatory stage, and it is expected to complete the registration of the company under the laws of our country within 6 months; In addition, foreign startups established for less than five (5) years may be eligible if they are recommended by a government agency of the Republic of China (Taiwan) (including relevant startup incubation or support programs), ITRI, or ITRI's overseas offices, and are determined to provide significant benefits to Taiwan's industrial development, technology collaboration, industrial linkages, or international cooperation.
  2. Products or services provided by the company must be technical or innovative

Joint Research & Development

  1. Public or private enterprises, industrial groups, research institutions, and government agencies registered under the laws of our country; In addition, a foreign company may qualify for admission if it is recommended by a government agency of the Republic of China (Taiwan) (including relevant support programs), ITRI, or any of ITRI's overseas offices, and is determined to provide significant benefits to Taiwan's industrial development, technology cooperation, industrial linkages, or international collaboration.
  2. The applicant must have a substantive technical cooperation development or field verification plan with the Industrial Technology Research Institute during the stationing stage; and
  3. For those who sign the contract for the first move-in or want to renew the contract after the original move-in period expires, the applicant must provide the cooperation certificate with ITRI with the amount which is greater than or equal to the number of pings of the space to be moved in (that is, excluding public buildings or public spaces) multiplied by NT$10,000; when renewing the contract, if the signing of the cooperation plan has not been completed, the management unit of ITRI may give a grace period according to the situation, and may adjust the space maintenance fee rate during the grace period.

Professional Services (No Vacancies)

  1. Applicant Qualifications: Applicants must meet all of the following criteria
    • A company or professional association registered under the laws of our country; and
    • Provide professional services and the service objects must include ITRI and/or ITRI's resident manufacturers; professional services include but not limited to: intellectual property rights, industrial analysis and research, accounting, legal, marketing, management consultants, industrial safety Counseling, etc.
  2. Occupancy Period
    • The first period is limited to three years at most. After the period of residency expires, the residency can only be renewed after being reviewed and approved by ITRI.
