A 3D Micro Precision Construction Technology has been developed for tissue engineering. An electric field is applied onto a programmable micro-extrusion nozzle set to effectively achieve structural precision of ~20 μm for high viscosity (~5,000 mPa·s) biomedical material at room temperature. When combined with the skin cell cultivation techniques, which are extremely temperature sensitive, this technology solves the persistent problem of natural shrinkage of the epidermis and dermis.

Applications & Benefits

Thus, this bio-printing technology equipped with a novel nozzle design in a controlled temperature environment can print and sustain active proliferating skin cells to become functional tissues.
