Technology Overview

Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) starts from the integrated care of emergency, intensive care, ward and home. It uses portable or handheld ultrasound to scan directly at the patient's bedside in order to find possible lesions in the shortest time. The hardware and software of this technology are independently developed by ITRI, using low-power compounding plane wave beamforming and non-local adaptive image processing algorithms to achieve the high-quality image and the needs of wireless mobile ultrasound to be small, lightweight and long-term use; the technical team has also won the 16th National Innovation Award in Taiwan.

• Specifications
  High-quality images have required large and expensive hardware, which also means that miniaturized handheld ultrasound devices need to balance size and image quality. Through the low-power compounding plane wave beamforming technology, users do not need to compromise on image quality, and through the dual-probe design, shallow and deep scans can be completed without switching probes or affecting image quality.
