Products of green design demonstrate corporate responsibility and improve brand image. Global brands like Nike and Adidas are prominent examples. Taiwan is the world's largest supplier of sports shoes. Its annual production accounts for 1/3 of global capacity. Demand for sustainable materials is immense and imminent in Taiwan’s footwear industry. Furthermore, our green materials comply with the European One Star (Biomass: 20~40wt. %) or the American USDA Bio-preferred program (Biomass 25%), which subsequently helps to enhance Taiwan’s exports.
Applications & Benefits
ITRI has developed biomass insoles and sandal materials that meet existing production processes and are certified with the USDA BioPreferred Label. The main sources of biomass are industrial starch, paper fiber with reinforcing function or agricultural wastes such as rice husk and coffee grounds.
