Easy-Dismantled Solar Module Design

Technology Overview

Easy-Dismantled Solar Module Design
Easy-Dismantled Solar Module Design

The technology of easy-dismantled films developed by ITRI could solve the current problems caused by non-disassembled EVA/POE films. This innovative packaging film has the advantages of both thermoplastic and thermosetting materials through controlling the degrees of crosslinking, melting points, and pyrolysis process of materials at the molecular level. The thermoplastic layer (TPE) softens at higher temperatures, which serves as a buffer layer to protect solar cells during dismantling process. Otherwise, this easy-dismantled films ensure safety, reliability, and compatibility with the manufacturing process. With its disassembly process and high-value material recycling technologies, a PV module recycling circular value chain is created.

Applications & Benefits

Achieving a recycling rate of up to 92%, the reclaimed materials from these solar panel modules can be reused solar cells and wafers. This approach results in approximately 64% carbon reduction and significantly increases silicon recovery rates. Wafers manufactured with these recycled materials have a 98% lower carbon footprint compared to those produced using traditional methods. This easy-to-disassemble solar module has received TÜV Rheinland certification for IEC standards.
