Technology Overview
Waste–to–energy is a value–added technology and the key to achieving a circular economy. The fast pyrolysis technology developed by ITRI combines a fluidized–bed reactor, cleaning unit (including de–char device, de–ash device, and de–wax device), and systemization technology, converting waste plastic and paper–reject into fuel oil for the replacement of fossil fuels used in package boilers.
Applications & Benefits
The world’s first waste paper into fuel oil demonstration plant has been constructed, with a treatment capacity of 5 tons per day. It not only converts waste into renewable fuel oil with savings of NT $13,000 per ton of fuel oil on boiler applications, but also reduces waste paper treatment costs by NT $ 3,000–5,000/ton. This technology can be employed in companies to decrease disposal cost, fossil energy consumption, and product carbon footprint, thus increasing product competitiveness in the market.
