Technology Overview
This 400 kW DC-DC converter features a standard full-bridge topology and the solid-state transformer design, which enables a direct connection to 11 kV, eliminating the requirement for traditional bulky step-up transformers.
On the primary side, the converter incorporates ITRI’s 3.3 kV/400 A SiC power module which reduces overall switching losses by approximately 30% and ensures stability with no noticeable overshoot or ringing during switching. The system achieves a high conversion efficiency of 98.3%.
ITRI’s 3300 V/400 A SiC power module features a stacked substrate, symmetric circuit design, and proprietary patented housing with a parallel main loop path (PN), which achieves exceptionally low parasitic inductance, low thermal resistance, and reduced switching losses.
The module is optimized for power conversion system applications as renewable energy, rail transportation, and power grid systems.
