Technology Overview
Due to extreme climate change and other issues, many countries have seen major disasters including landslides and torrential floods in recent years. ITRI has developed a new geoelectric detection and analysis technology that provides comprehensive, real-time, and visualized images of groundwater flow in the stratum, enabling real-time detection and remote operation for slope monitoring and safety warnings. The technology can be applied to the detection and safety assessment of the triggering factors for slope disasters in railways, highways, national roads, and communities. It can also be applied to high-resolution geological exploration to evaluate the utilization of underground resources.
Core Technical Advantages
- Novel types of geoelectric resistance detection system that provides 3 times faster detection, 50 times more data, and 4 times higher resolution compared with conventional systems.
- Revealing the real-time underground water flow in details and providing early warning based on soil moisture seepage and weakness analysis.
Applications & Benefits
This technology has been applied in 9 geologically sensitive areas alongside railways and highways in Taiwan.
