Lithium Manganese Iron Phosphate Battery

Technology Overview

Lithium Manganese Iron Phosphate Material
Lithium Manganese Iron Phosphate Material

Lithium manganese iron phosphate (LMFP) has gained considerable attention for its high voltage (~4V), long cycle life, low cost, and excellent safety features. ITRI has developed an LMFP cell with an energy density of 210 Wh/kg, power density of 2700 W/kg, and a cycle life of 4000 cycles at a 1C charge/discharge rate. Additionally, ITRI has introduced a dual-layer NMC/LMFP composite cell, achieving an energy density of over 260 Wh/kg, power density exceeding 3000 W/kg, and more than 3000 cycles at a 1C charge/discharge rate. These 20 Ah cells also meet the stringent nail penetration (SAE J2464) and overcharge (IEC 62660-3) safety tests.

Applications & Benefits

These innovations provide a highly effective solution for lithium-ion batteries, offering high energy density, safety, cost efficiency, and long life for electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage systems (ESS).
