Technology Overview
The ITRI liquid desiccant system uses innovative ionic liquid to absorb vapor from the air so that the outlet air will dry. When the desiccant becomes saturated, it will be pumped to the regeneration unit, and heated up by the heat source. Then the desiccant will desorb the vapor, and recover to the initial concentration. After regeneration, the desiccant will pump back to the dehumidification unit, and complete the operation cycle. This system has two important properties. The first is that it can be thermal-driven, so waste heat and a highly efficient heat pump can be used, getting an energy-saving ratio of 15-30% compared with traditional air conditioning systems. Another is the dehumidification part and regeneration can be spread, so it is flexible when it is installed.
