Rotor Flux Tailoring Syncing Induction Motor (Roft-SIM) technology, a 2017 R&D 100 Award finalist, is based on a traditional induction motor whose rotor steel has been modified in structure to allow the rotation speed of the rotor to synchronize with the frequency of the motor’s input current. In this way, the operating efficiency of the motor is greatly improved. Energy degeneration in rotors equipped with Roft-SIM technology is reduced by about 25 percent compared to traditional motors.
