Technology Overview
ITRI's SENSE (Smart ENergy for a Sustainable Ecosystem) is the industry's first sustainable circular energy solution to enable energy units to enter a sustainable cycle of full life-cycle usage, from electric vehicle use to energy replenishment systems, as well as finally to energy storage systems and the power grid. Each stage can combine new, old, and different types of batteries to achieve full utilization, extending the system's lifespan.
Additionally, this solution regards power sources from various inputs such solar, or batteries as differently-sized power units (LVPUs). By using smart energy technology, these units can be flexibly and quickly aggregated (MSPA) to produce required AC power supply system, reducing energy transfer loss by 50% and construction costs by 30%. Furthermore, energy units can be quickly separated and reconfigured according to multi-party electricity usage and demand, achieving the best economic benefits of sharing.
The SENSE solution has been implemented in Taiwan's CPC Corporation, Smart Green Energy Demonstration Stations (including charging, battery swapping, and energy storage for electric vehicle operation), providing key technology and services for achieving net-zero emissions.
Applications & Benefits
This system is a sustainable cycle power solutions, from mobile power consumption (such as electric vehicles), turnover power consumption (such as power supplementary system) to dispatching power consumption (such as energy storage system and power grid), energy significantly extend the service lifespan of different electric energy units, reduce energy loss and decrease construction costs by 30%.
Through dynamic adjusting power technology, different power units can be more flexibly and quickly aggregated or separated to support demand scheduling of virtual power plants.
