Driver’s ECG Perception System for Smart Cockpit Applications
Technology Overview
- ITRI has developed a high accuracy coupled-sensing ECG steering wheel for the physiological monitoring of driver.
- Through the high-coupling sensing system combined with noise filtering and signal compensation processing technology, the ECG signal can be measured from leather thickness of 1.5 mm, achieving rapid heart rate measurement.
- The heart rate range is 40–130 BPM with the error ≤±3 BPM, and the HRV calculation for stress index.
Applications & Benefit
- The non-skin contact ECG sensing system integrated to the steering wheel or the steering wheel cover can monitor driver’s physiological status for improving driving safety.
- It can be applied to detect the occupant’s physiological perception and more applications for the smart cockpit, smart mobility and health care in the future.
