About Intelligent Machinery Technology Center

ITRI announced its founding of the Intelligent Machinery Technology Center, with Dr. Lai-Sheng Chen as the General Director. It targets the development of domestically-produced CNC (Computer Numerical Control) controllers and the application of CNC systems. The objective is to establish a demonstration system for the production of advanced CNC controllers and the related processing and verification, thereby optimizing Taiwan’s industry structure, helping Taiwan’s CNC industry cluster to better connect to the international arena, and gaining opportunities in emerging hi-tech industries.

Dr. Lai-Sheng Chen stated that the Center, adjacent to the Central Taiwan Innovation Campus and the service industry in Taichung and Nantou, would focus on three major technologies: advanced CNC controllers, smart CNC and smart key modules. The Center will cooperate with the industrial and academic sectors as well as global partners to create a total solution that encompasses the design, manufacturing and application of domestically-produced controllers and machine tools. It will also develop the advanced CNC application software for smart machinery and the core technology for 3S (system/software/service) so that Taiwan will improve its whole-plant export capacity. R&D alliances will also enable the development of integrated technology in the aviation, green energy, biomedicine, and automobile industries.
